Planning a New Journal

I felt the anticipation building as I headed home with
new treasures I'd discovered at local stores this morning.
I fossicked through cupboards, boxes and drawers,
pulling out old favourites and adding them to the mix.
Cottons, linens, lace, doilies, ribbons, mesh and more.
Once my collection was spread across the floor of the lounge
it was easy to make the final selection.
A delicate mix of old and new, pinks and creams
lace and linen.
My next journal cover is just around the corner . . .

Garden Journal

My favourite place to sit and update my garden journal.
Preferably early morning or as the sun is setting.
Crop rotation, successes and failures, seasonal changes, insect
and bird life, weather, plans, 'to do list'; it's all there.

And . . . progress updates.
Over this warm, wet summer there's been plenty of that.
Makes for a happy gardener
and journal keeper.

Mini Journals

Enjoyed making these mini journals for a young relative.
They'll go into the goodie bag along with other miniature treasures.

Coptic stitching binds the card booklet.
The floral patterned book is made from one sheet of paper.
Here's the link for easy-to-follow instructions.

Have fun!

Journeying in to 2014

I like to keep a journal and sometimes, when I let my thoughts flow quickly onto the page, I learn something about myself, somewhere around several pages in!

I've always known stories are important to me, and that certain types of stories hold more appeal to me than others.

Then, a few days ago, six words appeared, heavily underlined, on the page in front of me: journeys, adventure, mystery, wonder, magic, love. I quickly recognised them as elements within the stories I enjoy the most.

At the same time, I arrived at the realisation that I want these elements to be incorporated in my work.

So, in 2014, expect to see more of these ingredients in my work, starting with this repurposed journal I finished yesterday, now available on Etsy.

Reasons to Keep a Journal

Occasionally, people remark that they'd love to own a journal, or put one to use, but they "wouldn't know what to put in it." So, we put our heads together and came up with this list: 15 good reasons to keep a daily journal.

If you arrived here looking for something to put in your journal, we hope you found something. If you already keep a journal, we'd love to know what for. This list should evolve and grow!
